There are many key characters that play major roles in the novel, but often the supporting roles will support many themes that make To Kill a Mockingbird a very deep book.
Jean Louise "Scout" FInch
Through out To Kill a Mocking Bird Jean Louise Finch, otherwise known as Scout, is a young 6 year old girl witnessing everything around her and creating her own story. As she gets older, through out the years she becomes aware of whats really going on around her, she is discovering new things that most people don't understand. she also doesn't want too be a normal girl like her aunt Alexandria wants her to be, she doesn't want too wear dresses and play with dolls. Scout wants to wear overalls and playing in the mud.
Atticus FInch
Atticus Finch is the father of the main character Jean Louise (Scout) Finch and her brother Jem Finch. Atticus is portrayed as a calm and reasonable character who treats everyone how he wants them to treat him. In the book, Atticus is assigned a very controversial court case defending a black man named Tom Robinson who's accused of rape. His true colors are shown throughout the case as he tries to defend Tom. Not only is he modest but he is also extremely intelligent and clever. In chapter 15 Atticus is approached by a group of men who are trying to find Tom Robinson. Even though Atticus's life is at risk he still remains selfless and doesn't reveal Tom. In verification of this action Atticus says, "They've gone, get some sleep Tom. They won't bother you any more." pg. 206. Despite Tom's race and life threatening circumstances Tom still continued to defend him. Atticus is shown as a compassionate, selfless person who's also very intelligent.

Arthur "Boo" Radley
Boo Radley was about 38 years old . You see Boo throughout the book and he always is protecting the Finch family.Was a character who never really went outside only in the night.He is a character that we only see rarely. Boo is a summer magnet for Scout,Dill,and Jem they always communicated by using a tree. Throughout the book he was always the one that helped or the one that saved people. "But there came a day, barley within Jems memory when Boo Radley was heard from and was by several people, but not by Jem." This quote shows how Boo Radley was not wanted to be seen in the day.
