Education
Education in the 1930s
Malcolm X once said “Education is our passport to our future for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” Malcolm X is a famous quote writer that's right quotes about how people were racist to blacks and he was assassinated in 1965 and was born on 1925. This quote means that education is a gift no matter how hard it is for some people. For example, education was terrible for the black and some lower class whites as well. This led to different types of education and not being able for blacks and whites to be in the same class. Also using money for school funding was a waste this means schools were terrible.
To beginning people argued that spending money on school was a waste of money and time. “The 1930s Education Overview”(Judith S. Baughman) Therefore school was awful and hard for the students. They didn’t have the right materials to teach. They had no resources. Also wealthy people were taught in private they didn't have to suffer with bad education they had a good education. After that whites had a better education over all. These facts show how people didn't care about public schools or care about kids education. This is how far people would go back then in education to give kids a good one.
After all the blacks and the whites are not allowed in the same classroom.(Education Locally Decided)This shows how it was hard for the blacks to learn. Blacks had their own classrooms which were not very nice class rooms either. They were not taught literature they were taught manual labor while the whites got to read and write the blacks didn't. The blacks also had a very low class teacher and they didn't have
a very good education over all. This led to blacks not being very smart they didn't know much.
Next whites had better teachers than the whites which meant they had better resources and better learning opportunity “The 1930s Education Overview”(Judith S. Baughman) this shows how blacks had a terrible education and it was hard for them to read or right things and some of them couldn’t.Therefore they had a bad education and they weren’t very smart.
Next the blacks were not taught English and writing like white people.(The 1930's Education) This made them not smart they didn't know how to read or write.Next they were taught manual labor like metal working. They knew how to work but not read or write. After that the blacks had a very low class teacher too. They didn't have the materials to learn anything that will make them better in the real world. The poor whites that were taught reading and writing got a lower class teacher as well as the blacks. The whites did not have enough materials to give the kids a good education. Therefore they didn't get an education and didn't know how to read or write.
After all there are many reasons how education lacked in the 1930's. In the beginning the government thought spending money on school was a waste of time and money and they didn’t get to be in the same class, also they were not taught English or reading like the whites. They
were taught manual labor like metal working. Therefore school was terrible for the blacks and they didn’t have a good education. In conclusion 1930s education was a hard time until they made it better and fixed it for the blacks and whites.
